Forgiveness of Sins and Healing of Diseases

“…who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.” – 1. Peter 2:24

This scripture written by the Apostle Peter refers to the prophecies about the Messiah of the old testament prophet Isaiah (who lived in the 8th century before Christ):

“Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
… He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. ” (Isaiah 53:4-6)

When we accept Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for us, as far as God is concerned, we are dead to sin, we are made righteous ( I wrote about this here earlier). These scriptures also shed light on how the wounds He suffered make it possible for us to have access to receiving physical healing.

It is a done deal, just like we receive forgiveness of sins through simply believing and receiving, we receive healing for our bodies the same way: we ask Him for it and then we believe that it is done.

He has already made the provision by dying on the cross for the healing of anyone who comes to Him, He is not picking and choosing. It is also seen in the Gospels, that during Jesus’ earthly ministry He healed all who came to Him, He never denied healing to anyone. So why would He deny healing to anyone who asks today? (“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.“)

“He… healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”- Matthew 8:16,17
