We have come to know and rely on the love that God has for us. God is love, and the person who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. – 1John 4:16 (ISV)
I wrote about what takes place when we get born again and how God views us (see here). It is clear where He stands, but it is still a process for us to “come to know and rely on the Love that God has for us”. While He views us as new creatures in Christ, we tend to keep viewing ourselves as before, not realizing and being ignorant of what having Him in our life means or could mean and in very practical terms!
It can be hard for us to grasp what this new life means as it is not something we can comprehend or make sense of with our five senses. It can be only revealed to us by the Spirit of God through God’s Word. Jesus Himself explained this: “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”
So the Bible instructs us to “be transformed by the renewing of our minds” and this transormation takes place by reading and meditating on the Word of God.
